It’s been a busy start to 2020 here at UK virtual! At the time of writing you have logged 992 flights this month, meaning we are averaging nearly 1000 flights per month since November 2019. This is double the amount of flights we were logging last year. We would like to say thankyou to all our members for your continued support. You are the reason Myself, Tony and Mike continue to develop the virtual each month making UK virtual stronger everyday.

Flight Operations – Ryan Boulton – Lear

The hub project has got off to a great start, if I say so myself, with American Airlines and Allegiant Air being the first two airlines updated with a full route network. Coming up next is Air Canada along with their subsidiaries Air Canada Express and a new addition – Air Canada Rouge. Keep an eye on the #hub-project Discord channel for future updates.

Next month is Alaska Airlines month! Simple and easy competition, just fly as many Alaska Airlines flights as you can in the month with automatic entry for all members. You can fly any aircraft on the routes, however we do suggest you use the Alaska Airlines livery and you can only fly the same schedule twice for it to be counted. The prize for the member who completes the most flights will be an ORBX airport of their choice. Full details of the routes Alaska Airlines operate can be found here : https://www.ukvirtual.co.uk/index.php/airline_page?airline=ASA

Finally we have a screenshot competition next month to celebrate the release of the UK virtual livery on the Aerosoft A330 and PMDG 777. All you have to do is upload a sim picture of any of our liveries to the #screenshot channel on Discord with the tagline “#ukva” to enter. The winning photo will be the new cover of our Social Media accounts, and receive a simmarket voucher.

General Operations – Mike Freeman

At the end of this month we made some big changes to our UK virtual supporters club. Our UK virtual supporters can enjoy a range of benefits including a change in the AFK rules, our partner discounts, quarterly prize draws, and an extra month to finish closed tours. We offer three tiers – £5/£10/£15 per month via a quick and easy paypal link on our website. If you prefer we also accept donations via bank standing orders. We would like to thank all of our current and new UK virtual supporters who will be entered into our March Prize draw to win £50 towards an add on aircraft of your choice. For more information on how you can get involved take a look at this link : https://blog.ukvirtual.co.uk/uk-virtual-supporters-club-changes/

Our February group flight will be Wednesday 18th February 2020. Departing from Leeds we will be heading to Salzburg departing at 20:00pm GMT. UK virtual liveries and Union callsigns to be used. All members are welcome, old and new especially if you are new to Vatsim. Let us help you get started online on Vatsim, the best place to learn. The pilot who achieves the best landing rate close to -150fpm will win a SimMarket voucher.

Technical Operations – Tony Whaling

Myself and Ryan have been working hard with our new tracker development team to build our brand new flight tracker. It’s a long process with many variables to be tried and tested along the way, so please bear with us – trust us it’s worth the wait!

As always if you have any ideas, suggestions, spot any bugs – please do not hesitate to contact us at “[email protected]” any time, and we look forward to seeing you in the skies and on Discord soon.

The UK virtual team.
